Litchfield Beach

Part of the greater Pawleys Island region of the Grand Strand, when visiting Litchfield Beach, you might think you’re in sophisticated, upscale Hilton Head, S.C. Both communities are known for their aesthetic beauty, quiet charm, private clubs, tennis and golf. Litchfield Beach, named for a rice plantation once operating there in the 1700s, offers a completely different vacation experience than the urban, fast-paced Myrtle Beach, just 30 minutes to the north. This carefully zoned and beautiful community offers a much quieter and more exclusive-styled beach vacation than almost anywhere else along the Grand Strand.

Bordering the Huntington Beach State Park to the north, and Pawleys Island to the South, Litchfield Beach is made up of gated communities, a few public access areas, and two really fine resorts.

Along U.S. 17, gourmet markets, an independent bookstore (Litchfield Books), golf courses, antique shops, bakeries, pubs, fine dining restaurants and more, keep year-round residents and summertime visitors thoroughly provisioned for whatever might come up.

Halfway between historic Georgetown – the third oldest city in the state – and action-filled Myrtle Beach, Litchfield Beach can act as a central jumping-off point between these two diverse destinations. Everyone in your group can find something nearby to entertain them. But Litchfield itself has so much to offer, you might just stay put. Instead of concrete high-rises and fast food establishments (though there are a few) think of well-manicured landscapes, ancient Live Oak trees, and boutique shops and eateries including a craft brew-pub, several fine-dining options, and plenty of casual fare.

Without being snobby, Litchfield Beach takes pride in its appearance, and is immediately set apart from every other Grand Strand community from north to south. You owe it yourself to see why those who vacation and live in Litchfield Beach will not stay anywhere else.
