This Litchfield Beach breakfast and lunch eatery is known as much for their community-centered atmosphere as they are for the quality of their dishes. Now a franchise with around a dozen locations, Eggs Up is unique in that the original founders still own and operate their first store, working constantly with patrons and staff to make sure that everyone is happy.

Open bright and early seven days a week at 6 a.m., the menu here features a full lineup of both filling and lighter fare. Eggs and breakfast meats are obviously one of the specialties, but diners can also opt for things like fresh fruit, salads, wraps, and oatmeal.  

Breakfast Favorites include the wildly-popular Corned Beef Hash & Eggs, the Mason Dixon (two eggs, sausage patties, biscuits and gravy, choice of home fries or grits and toast), and a Blueberry Muffin & Eggs that comes with fresh fruit. All Breakfast Sandwiches are served with home fries or grits, and highlights include a Western Bagel (two eggs and cheddar mixed with diced ham, peppers, and onions), The Egg Bomb (fried egg, bacon, lettuce, tomato, mayo, bun), and the Biscuit-witch (sausage, egg, cheese, grilled biscuit, sausage gravy for dipping). In addition to Eggs Benedict and Tomato Florentine Benedict, there are numerous tasty Omelets available. Fan favorites include The Greek (spinach, feta, tomato, black olive), the Patty-O-Sullivan (corned beef hash, melted Swiss), and the Build Your Own, which can be as simple or complex as you like.

Of course, no breakfast joint worth its butter would be complete without Waffles, Pancakes, and French Toast, and Eggs Up offers some interesting takes on the classics. Consider the Sweet Potato Pancakes (with pecans and creamy cinnamon syrup), the Chocolate Waffle Crunch (chocolate chips and granola baked right in), or Bananas Foster-ize any of the original three and enjoy sautéed bananas, caramel sauce, and whipped cream on top of your favorite breakfast bread.

For something more lunch-centric, diners can choose from any number of Burgers, Sandwiches, and Wraps. It doesn’t get much better than the Great American Cheeseburger, a hearty Black Angus patty topped with American cheese, lettuce, tomato, red onion, mustard, ketchup, and dill pickle slices on a toasted bun. Other options include a Reuben, Philly Cheese Steak, Club, as well as lighter fare like the Turkey-Berry Wrap and Ham-Cucumber-Swiss Wrap. For a much lighter lunch, check out Skinny Chicken, served with two poached eggs, toasted English muffin, and sliced grapefruit; Apples & Raisins & Egg Whites; and the Spinach Salad, with boiled egg, strawberries, pecans, red onions, and feta tossed in a hot bacon dressing.

A trip to Eggs Up consistently finds a very clean dining room and genial atmosphere among patrons. It’s a super-popular destination on Sundays after church, so a short wait might stand between you and a table, but it’s well worth it – because if it wasn’t, there wouldn’t be such a high demand for seating in the first place. The interior of the restaurant is a bright and welcoming affair, with tables and booths available depending on the size of your party. And if you find yourself visiting again and again, don’t be surprised to find familiar faces, a wait staff that remembers your name, and consistently good food during each trip.
