Learn all about the maritime history of Georgetown and South Carolina at the South Carolina Maritime Museum! Located on the Georgetown Harborwalk, this museum was conceptualized by the Harbor Historical Association in 1996, and by 2011 the South Carolina Maritime Museum opened its doors for the first time.

One of the main attractions at the South Carolina Maritime Museum is the prized Fresnel lens from the old North Island Lighthouse, along with other exhibits that are interesting and educational for people of all ages.

In addition to exhibits, the South Carolina Maritime Museum also offers summer sailing camps for youth ages 8-18! Camps are held each week during June, July, and August.

Each year since the early 90’s, the South Carolina Maritime Museum has hosted the Georgetown Wooden Boat Show, which has grown over the years to become the best show of its kind in the southeast. Funds from this annual event contributed to the Harbor Historical Association opening the museum!
