Located on the MarshWalk in Murrells Inlet, this locals-approved restaurant has been pleasing palettes since 1998. And with a name like that, it’s no secret what the specialty here is.

The more-or-less recent influx of sushi to the area makes it easy to forget about the establishments that’ve been doing it well for years and years.

Sushi Bar Specialties at Wahoo’s include everything from Miso Soup and Edamame to Beef Tataki and Seaweed Salad.

In addition to individual two-piece Sushi orders (Mackerel, Tuna, Crab, Salmon, Eel, et al.), there’s also a healthy list of Rolls that features items like Spicy Blue Crab, Salmon and Cream Cheese, Yellow Tail and Scallions, Rainbow Roll, Lobster Dumpling, and Blackened Tuna Roll.

For a more traditional Lowcountry meal, the Dinner menu offers plenty of enticing options to choose from.

The biggest problem with the Appetizer list is that choosing just one way too difficult, but there are no rules limiting you from ordering more. For example, how do you choose between Fried Green Tomatoes with chevre and blackened shrimp, Smoked Oysters with smoked bacon and a warm fennel apple salad, or Chefy’s Seafood Ceviche with local fish, shrimp, and scallops with tomato, jalapeno, avocado, and tortilla chips?

The list of Soup & Salad includes classics like She Crab, Caesar, and Wedge, as well as Wahoo’s Signature Salad of frisee and arugula, adobo citrus vinaigrette, dried cranberries, candied bacon, almonds, and bleu cheese.

For fish, the options are the daily fresh catch that the chef hand-picks and pairs with seasonal vegetables and your choice of cheddar mashed potatoes or rice pilaf, or one of the Famous Murrells Inlet Seafood Platters of Shrimp, Oysters, Flounder, or all three.

And for Chef’s Specialties, diners can choose from an impressive list of entrees like Bourbon BBQ Mahi with charred asparagus, chipotle shrimp risotto, and a warm tomato arugula salad, Crispy Catfish that’s been marinated in honey mustard and thyme and served with a bacon black bean cake and seasonal veggies, and a 5-Spice Duck Breast with orange ginger risotto, tempura squash, and a red wine demi glace.
