People have been partying in Murrells Inlet for a long long time, and one of the places where locals enjoyed a stiff drink was Hot and Hot Fish Club on Drunken Jack Island. Dating back to the late 1700’s, what was once a lively social club ended up dissolving sometime after the Civil War, and all that remains of both the club and the island is a sand bar off the coast of Huntington Beach State Park.

Though not to worry – the current Hot Fish Club serves up a great menu of fresh seafood on one of the Inlet’s most scenic properties, where guests can enjoy a meal and then head out to the marsh-front gazebo to hear some great live music.

The menu opens with a Teazers section that includes tempting appetizers like Prime Rib Spring Rolls with Fontina cheese and onions, Oysters Rockefeller, Blue Crab Fondue with toasted pita points, and the Hot Fish Sampler of Bam Bam Shrimp, Calamari Strips, and Chicken Spring Rolls.

The list of Club Specialties includes, as the name suggests, dishes that you aren’t likely to find anywhere else in town. Consider the Lobster Pot Pie (lobster, shrimp, scallops, puff pastry), Seafood Cioppino (crab, shrimp, scallops, clams, mussels, fresh fish, spicy tomato broth, garlic toast), and Grouper Medallions (char-grilled, served with grits and succotash, finished with lobster saffron sauce).

For an Inlet Style seafood platter, guests can choose from Shrimp, Oysters, Flounder, Scallops, or double-down go for the Hot Fish Platter which includes all of the above and a Crab Cake, each available grilled or fried and served with slaw and choice of potato.

Those in the mood for a land-based dinner should head to the From the Shore section of the menu, where options include a 28-day aged Certified Angus Beef Ribeye, Baby Back Ribs, Chicken Fried Chicken, or a Filet & Shrimp, each served with potatoes and veggies.

The From the Steamer section features regional comfort food like the Lowcountry Steampot (shrimp, clams, oysters, mussels, smoked sausage, corn, red potatoes), and the Super Steampot (same as Lowcountry with the addition of Crab Legs and a 1lb. Main Lobster), as well as steamed or raw Oysters and Peel-and-Eat Shrimp.

Guests at Hot Fish have several options for seating, including the well-appointed dark wood bar area, a dining room with area landscapes painted in mural form on the walls, an outdoor screened-in patio, and, of course, the famous gazebo out back.
