No, this MarshWalk eatery isn’t glorifying the small rodents that scurry through kitchens and alleys – “creek rat” is a term for a kid growing up in Murrells Inlet. According to their menu, “A true creek rat comes home covered in mud from head to toe after playing, fishing, and swimming in the inlet.” Fair enough.

The spelling modification used in the restaurant’s name carries over onto the menu’s section titles, which is divided into Starterz, Basketz, Bowlz, & Platez, Sandwichez, Pizza, Burgerz, and Raw Bar.

Appetizer options include standards like Calamari, Cheese Sticks, and Wings, as well as unique items such as Crab Stuffed Mushrooms, Homemade Pimento Cheese Dip with chips, and Fried Okra with boom boom sauce.

The list of soups and salads includes a Grilled Pizza Salad (mixed greens, pepperoni, sausage, mushrooms, onions, peppers, mozzarella, parmesan), and more common choices like Caesar, Greek, House, Murrells Inlet Clam Chowder, and Homemade Chili.

Baskets and Plates come served with cole slaw and hushpuppies, and your choice of fries, chips, or potato salad. Options include Flounder, Crab, Oysters, and Shrimp, as well as Shrimp & Grits, an 8oz Sirloin Plate, and Steak & Shrimp Plate.

Creek Ratz also offers a few Pizzas, which they claim as some of the best in town. Guests can choose from the Spinach & Feta, Philly Cheese Steak, Buffalo Chicken, or Traditional with your choice of toppings.

The extensive list of sandwiches includes a Creek Rat Reuben (spicy shrimp with sauerkraut, thousand island, Swiss), Yellowfin Tuna Philly (onions, cheddar, mozzarella), Fish Tacos, and several Po Boy options.

For something a little hardier, check out burger options like the BBQ Bacon Burger, Pimento Cheeseburger, Mushroom Swiss Burger, and Jalapeno Burger, and each is served with fries and fried tobacco onions.

And if all that’s not enough, Creek Ratz also has a full raw bar with Shrimp, Oysters, Clams, Crab Legs, and Lowcountry Oysters by the Bucket.

Indoor and outdoor seating is available here, which means that the vibe can vary from peaceful to lively. It’s a casual restaurant either way, and inside there are numerous televisions, nautical decorations, and live music most nights of the week – one might say that it’s very Murrells Inlet.
