Nature Connects Art with Lego Bricks Exhibit at Brookgreen Gardens

By Marissa Polascak ˙ March 8, 2016

Brookgreen Gardens is proud to announce a brand new, exiciting exhibit! This new exhibit is called “Nature Connects Art with Lego Bricks” and will only be availble to see from March 5 until September 5, 2016. This all-ages exhibit is a must-see for those visiting the Grand Strand.

The exhibit features 12 installations of LEGO Brick art designed by renowned LEGO Brick artist Sean Kenney. Kenney has won many awards for his work with LEGO Bricks, he has designed pieces for many high-profile clients, and his work has been published in publications such as The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Wall Street Journal, and more.

For the spring and summer season, Kenney has allowed Brookgreen Gardens to display his beautiful LEGO sculptures around the Lowcountry Zoo. The 12 installations include depictions of plants, animals, and insects, including a butterfly on milkweed, hummingbird with a trumpet flower, Galapagos tortoise with a finch, peacock, and many other breathtaking sculptures.

There is no doubt that Kenney's installations took many hundreds of hours of work, and Helen Benso, Vice-president of Marketing at Brookgreen Gardens, stated that there are over a half of a million LEGO bricks throughout the exhibit.

So, if you're in the Pawleys Island area between now and September 5, 2016, be sure to stop by and check out this really awesome attraction!
