Pawleys Island is a great place to spend time with the family, and December is no exception. In addition to Brookgreen's spectacular Nights of a Thousand Candles, area theatres are putting on some great Christmas shows to help get everyone in the holiday spirit.

Nights of a Thousand Candles

December 6-9; 13-16; 20-22, 2018

Brookgreen Gardens, one of the area’s most scenic properties, takes on a whole new dimension each December as thousands of candles are strategically placed and lit all around the gardens. There’s also an 80-foot-tall Holiday Fir tree decked out with 60,000 lights, as well as carolers, a bagpipe player, and hand bell ringers lending seasonal music to the atmosphere. In addition to the strolling singers and ringers, visitors will also have the opportunity to see a variety of performances by contemporary pianists, jazz trios, pop chorale ensembles, and dulcimer players. Dates are December 6-9; 13-16; and 2-22, and festivities are open from 3-10 p.m. each day.

The South's Grandest Christmas Show

This Alabama Theatre Yuletide extravaganza explores the true meaning of Christmas, entertaining audiences while instilling the holiday spirit into each and every attendee. The show is a combination of traditional and contemporary holiday tunes, state-of-the-art special effects and scenery, and the family-friendly comedy of funny man Ricky Mokel. The Carolina Opry Christmas Special

This Calvin Gilmore production brings the magic of the holiday season to life with a dazzling array of seasonal song and dance, and this year will see the addition of a brass section and new vocalists. The Carolina Opry Theater itself is also a sight to behold, with over 35 Christmas trees, 75 wreaths, more than five miles of lighting, numerous tree ornaments, and mounds and mounds of snow. Showtimes vary, tickets start at $37.21 for adults and $22.33 for kids.
