We all have our favorite restaurants, and it is easy to order the same thing every time because we know we like it. Sometimes, though, its nice to branch off from the norm and try something different. While all of the restaurants in Pawleys Island serve a variety of delicious dishes, many have stand-out menu items that are hard to find anywhere else. One may think it is hard to find a unique item at a breakfast house, but Applewood House of Pancakes offers a dish that isn’t found in many other places around here. Stop by Applewood House of Pancakes and try their Crab Cakes Benedict. The Crab Cakes Benedict comes with two hand made crab cakes topped with two poached eggs and hollandaise sauce. This dish comes with an English muffin as well as home fries or grits, and fresh fruit.

If you’re looking for a small plate option, you can always opt for the Pair of New Bedford Scallops, which are paired with red curry and coconut carrot puree, soy ginger broth, and Asian pickled vegetables. For a full entree, branch out and try the Duck Two Ways (pan roasted breast and duck confit in red wine demi over a fire grit cake), or the Mediterranean Lamb Pizza (arugula, parmesan cheese, goat cheese, made on whole wheat dough).

If you’re not a seafood fan, go for the Pierogies, which are stuffed with potato and cheese and cooked in butter & onions, served with a side of sour cream.

If it is unique food that you are looking for, then Perrone’s is definitely the place to check out. Perrone’s Restaurant and Bar boasts a variety of upscale menu items, many of which are cooked sous vide style. If you’re a soup person, you must try the Mulligatawny Soup, which is a British soup of Indian origin, put together with Perrone’s own Indian curry spice blend with coconut milk, vegetable stick, onions, celery, potatoes, carrots, tomatoes, and lemon. The ingredients are pureed and thickened with crimson lentils, and then finished with a cilantro yogurty and garam masala.

If you’re not in the mood for soup and want to try an appetizer and an entree, then you should try the Kimchi Eggrolls and the Moroccan Poussin. The Kimchi Eggrolls are made with ground pork, house made kimchi, and served with Asian pear and apple dipping sauce. The Moroccan Poussin features local, all-natural farm-raised young chicken, cooked sous vide, cast iron pan seared, and served on Sardinian fregula with garlic, saffron, dried apricots, lucque olives, cardamom, ginger, cinnamon, coriander, preserved lemon, and tomatoes.
