Ingredients like corn, shellfish, and other vegetables, grains, meats, and seafood that are naturally found in the Southeastern United States are often included in these traditional dishes.

One of the most famous Lowcountry dishes is shrimp & grits. Featuring fresh-caught shrimp, Carolina stone-ground grits, butter, and other ingredients (depending on the recipe), shrimp & grits has become a staple among people who grow up in the south.
