Mother’s Day is right around the corner, and now is the time to plan a special celebration for the mother in your life. On Sunday, May 8, 2016, a few places are holding Mother’s Day specials and events in the Pawleys Island area. While Brookgreen Gardens isn’t technically having any “specials,” they are opening two new exhibits on Mother’s Day weekend. Also, on Saturday, May 7, 2016, Brookgreen Gardens is hosting their annual black tie optional gala called Masquerade of the Muses. This event will take place from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. and costs $175 per person. Masquerade of the Muses will feature live music, a silent auction, complimentary valet parking, gourmet hors d’oeuvres, and a large screen showing of the Kentucky Derby. All proceeds from this event will go to fund new projects within Brookgreen Gardens. Attire is black tie optional, and, of course, don’t forget to bring a mask!
Gulfstream Café
This Mother’s Day, Gulfstream Cafe will be holding a special Sunday Brunch. This Mother’s Day Brunch will cost $19.95 for adults and $9.95 for kids and will be held from 8 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. The menu for the brunch includes a carving station with roast beef and ham, as well as a buffet with scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, french toast, assorted mini muffins, assorted bagels, Caesar salad, mixed fruit with vanilla honey yogurt, fresh mozzarella tomato basil with balsamic glaze, chilled shrimp, fried cod, hush puppies, hash browns, mussels in garlic cream sauce with pasta, green beans, smokes salmon and capers, cheese grits, and a build-your-own omelet station.

Palmetto Ace Home Center is hosting a hands-on workshop where kids can pain a flower pot for Mother’s Day. This activity is free and all materials will be provided from Palmetto Ace. Parents must stay on site during the activity, and are encouraged to shop around while the kids make their flower pot. This event will be held on Sunday, May 1, 2016. Parents are asked to register their child for this event by calling 843-235-3555, or by visiting the Palmetto Ace Facebook page.
Salt Water Creek Cafe will be hosting a Mother’s Day Brunch from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Sunday, May 8th. Brunch items will include different types of Benedicts, stuffed French toast, omelets, pancakes, and more.
Wicked Tuna
The Wicked Tuna, located on the Murrells Inlet MarshWalk, will be hosting a Mother’s Day celebration on Sunday, May 8th. Mothers who dine at Wicked Tuna will receive a free Bloody Mary, Mimosa, or glass of Champagne. The restaurant will be offering specials such as Lobster Ravioli, Tuscan American Red Snapper, and Lobster Duo. For dessert, mothers can enjoy a strawberry swirl cheesecake with fresh strawberry compote.
