Fourth of July in Pawleys Island

By Marissa Polascak • June 02, 2016

The Fourth of July brings big celebrations to the Grand Strand every year. For us, it is a day of community, fun, and being grateful for living in the country that we call home.  Because July 4th is such a huge day in Pawleys Island and surrounding areas, there are many events, parties, and celebrations that are noteworthy and fun for all.

Pawleys Island 4th of July Parade

2016 marks the celebration of the 50th annual Fourth of July Parade in Pawleys Island! The parade will take place from 11 a.m. until 12 p.m. on July 4th, and anyone can participate by creating and decorating makeshift floats in the spirit of Independence Day. If you would like to register a float in the parade, you can do so at Town Hall at 321 Myrtle Avenue in Pawleys Island. The cost to enter is $15 in advanced, and $20 the day of. If you’re looking for a fun, family friendly activity to celebrate the 4th, then come on down to Pawleys Island!

Murrells Inlet Boat Parade & Fireworks

  • The Murrells Inlet Boat Parade normally takes place on July 4th, but this year organizers moved it to Saturday, July 2nd. Participants decorate their boats in a patriotic style and float on down the Inlet as onlookers celebrate from dry land. The Murrells Inlet Boat Parade starts at 10 a.m. from Garden City Point and ends at the Hot Fish Club.
  • On Monday, July 4th, head on over to the Murrells Inlet MarshWalk for some spectacular fireworks! The show begins at 10 p.m. and lasts about 20 minutes.

Surfside Beach Fireworks

Surfside Beach Pier is hosting a 4th of July celebration as well as a fireworks show on July 4th from 6-10 p.m. Live entertainment will be provided by Garth & Friends, and concessions will be available for purchase. The fireworks show will begin at 9:30 p.m.

Salute from the Shore 2016

Salute from the Shore is an annual event where F-16 jets and vintage planes fly over the South Carolina coast in honor of Independence Day. This year, head out on the beach with your American flags waving and watch as these planes fly high above. The planes will take off from Cherry Grove at 1 p.m. and will reach Hilton Head around 1:45 p.m.
